What's inside a Vahan Verify report

Every report pulls data directly from the government VAHAN registry and traffic authority databases. Thirteen categories, one downloadable PDF.

Owner details

Current owner name, father's name, owner serial number (1st / 2nd / 3rd owner).

Vehicle identity

Make, model, variant, year of manufacture, registration date, colour, body type, fuel type, vehicle class.

Engineering details

Engine number, chassis number, cubic capacity, seating capacity, gross weight, cylinder count.

RC status

ACTIVE / SUSPENDED / CANCELLED / BLACKLISTED — with timestamps and reasons where available.

Blacklist & NOC

Blacklist flag (theft, legal dispute, police hold) and NOC (No Objection Certificate) status.

Loan & hypothecation

Whether the vehicle is financed and, if so, the lender's name.

Insurance

Insurance company, policy number, validity expiry date.

Fitness certificate

Fitness valid-till date — critical for commercial vehicles, still required for private.

Road tax

Tax-paid-till date; outstanding arrears if any.

Pollution certificate

PUCC number and validity expiry.

Commercial permits

State & national permit numbers, validity, permit type (tourist / goods / contract carriage) — shown only for commercial vehicles.

Registered location

Registered RTO and state of registration.

Pending challans

When to use Vahan Verify

Before you buy a used car

Confirm the seller is the real owner, check there's no blacklist or theft flag, see pending challans you'd inherit, verify insurance and fitness validity.

Before RC transfer

RTOs will not transfer a vehicle with pending challans, an active loan (without NOC), or a blacklist flag. See every blocker before the RTO appointment.

Before insurance renewal

Cross-check registration details match your current policy. RC/policy mismatches (owner name, fuel type) are a common reason insurers reject claims.

When a seller says "loan paid off"

The RC still shows hypothecation until the bank issues NOC. Vahan Verify surfaces it in seconds — get NOC paperwork in hand before money changes hands.

What is Vahan Verify?
Vahan Verify is a ₹49 one-time digital report that pulls the complete Registration Certificate (RC) data for any Indian vehicle from the official government VAHAN database. It includes owner name, make, model, year, fuel type, RC status, insurance, fitness, loan status, blacklist status, permits, and the list of pending traffic challans.
Is the data official?
Yes. Vahan Verify pulls data directly from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways VAHAN registry through a regulated API partner. The data is the same as what an RTO officer sees when they query your vehicle.
How long does a report take?
Typically 5 to 10 seconds after payment. The VAHAN API and challan API run in parallel, and the report renders the moment both return.
Which vehicles does it work for?
All four-wheelers, two-wheelers, three-wheelers and commercial vehicles registered anywhere in India. You need the 10-character registration number.
Do you store my report?
No. The full report content is shown on your screen once and deleted from our servers the moment you leave the page. We retain only transaction metadata (phone, payment, make/model) for support and accounting. Download the PDF before closing the tab.
Is the PDF emailed?
No. To protect your privacy, the PDF is generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device. Nothing is emailed or stored server-side. If you lose the PDF, you'll need to re-purchase.
Does Vahan Verify guarantee the vehicle is safe to buy?
No. Vahan Verify is an informational report on the paperwork status of a vehicle. It does not assess mechanical condition, accident history, or title disputes. For a full pre-purchase inspection including AI photo analysis, use AI Vahan Inspection (₹249).
What if the RC is BLACKLISTED or CANCELLED?
The report surfaces this clearly. Never purchase a vehicle with these statuses — ownership transfer is legally blocked until the flag is cleared with the issuing RTO. Walk away.
What is the refund policy?
If report generation fails due to a technical issue on our side and no report is rendered, we auto-refund the ₹49 within 5 business days. Successfully generated reports are non-refundable since the digital service is consumed on delivery.
